Bohemia Manor Middle/High School Chiller/Cooling Tower Replacement
Gipe Associates provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering design and contract administration services to remove the existing chiller, cooling tower and all associated pumps and piping from Bohemia Manor High School. Gipe Associates served as the prime design consultants overseeing structural subconsultants to modify the existing roof structural framing and steel to support for the new split chiller condensing unit.
Due to unexpected inflation that occurred during the Covid 19 pandemic, the bids came in above budget requiring Gipe to work closely with the owner to create a solution that would bring the project within budget.
Construction documents included design for a new 300 ton air-cooled chiller with a 300 ton remote condensing unit. Design included all new pump controls, refrigerant evacuation system, and the proper conduits needed to meet local code for new high voltage circuit breakers, wiring, feeders and control wiring into existing switchboard and VFD unit.
