Crisfield Library Design/Build – New Construction
The new Crisfield Library consists of approximately 15,000 square feet and is located overlooking the Annemessex River in Somerset County, Maryland. The new space includes a diverse array of programmatic uses, including story time for preschoolers, genealogical research, history seminars, music performances, and special summer reading programs. The new facility also offers meeting space for Somerset County Tourism, as well as meeting rooms for nonprofits and community workshop groups, training, and group meetings.
Gipe Associates, Inc. provided heating, ventilating, and air conditioning, electrical power, interior lighting, site lighting, fi re alarm, plumbing and fire protection design. The Crisfield Library was designed and constructed in two phases. The first phase consisted of the site work, geothermal wellfield, and the core/shell. Phase 2 involved of the remaining interior design work and contract administration. Heating and cooling are provided by a state-of-the art geothermal system consisting of 40 geothermal boreholes.
