Eastern Shore Land Conservancy Offices – Adaptive Re-Use & Historical Renovation
Gipe Associates provided mechanical and electrical design and contract administration for the renovation of Talbot County’s historic McCord’s Building. The 15,768 square foot McCord’s Building was part of Easton’s National Register Historic District. The 20th century commercial brick row has been transformed into modern offices that house multiple non-profit Conservation Groups including the Eastern Shore Land Conservancy, Chesapeake Bay Foundation, and Ducks Unlimited. The newly renovated building hosts an array of sustainable features, including day light harvesting, high efficiency HVAC systems, including energy recovery of ventilation air systems and varying ventilation rates based on building occupancy, high efficiency windows, enhanced building envelope insulation, and light colored roofing to reduce building cooling loads. Once the construction was complete, Gipe Associates also performed commissioning of the systems to ensure all installed systems perform as designed. This project is LEED Certified.
