Ferry Cove Oyster Hatchery
The Ferry Cove Oyster Hatchery is a 16,500 sf state-of-the-art oyster hatchery that will be a production center and commercial point of sale facility for oyster larvae and seed. The hatchery will house algae production labs, exterior ocean water tanks, broodstock and spawning tank rooms, downweller tank room, attendant aquatic equipment, research labs, industry development & training facilities, offices, and locker area.
The project is located on a waterfront parcel in Sherwood, Maryland. Sherwood is a small rural, residential village located on the Bay Hundred Peninsula. At the project site, the peninsula is less than .5 mile wide, putting the project parcel 99% inside the Chesapeake Bay Critical Area.
