George Mason University Aquatic Center Equipment Upgrade

Gipe Associates, Inc. provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering design for the George Mason University Aquatic & Fitness Center HVAC and Sprinklers replacement project, located at the Fairfax, Virginia Campus. The project involved design to replace the existing pool dehumidification units and energy recovery unit serving the Recreation Pool and Competition Pool with new units that increased capacity and efficiency. Additionally, the design included an upgrade of the existing main Filter Room ventilation system to prevent excessive humidity from entering the room from adjacent areas, as well as control the odor of stored and active chemicals for the day-to-day activities of the pool systems. Direct digital control (DDC) systems were maintained and extended to all equipment. Shortly after the completion of this project, Gipe Associates was procured to design new lighting for the Natatorium.
