Noyes Childrens’ Library – Renovation

The Noyes Children’s Library was a single story, historic library located in Kensington, Maryland.  Originally opened in 1893, it is the oldest library in the Washington DC area and has been designated by the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission as a historical site.  Gipe Associates provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering design for the heating, ventilating, air conditioning, fire protection, power, interior lighting, site lighting, and infrastructure for the telecommunications, access controls, and security systems.  Installation of a VRF system with humidity control provided by a dedicated outdoor air unit was selected for the children’s area.  Restrooms were renovated and received new commercial grade ADA compliant fixtures supported by new instantaneous electric water heaters.
