Park Plaza Condominium Renovations
Gipe Associates performed a series of HVAC renovations for the Park Plaza Condominium, which houses nearly 300 residential units, a pool, community room, and fitness center. Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering design was first provided for the refurbishment of the cooling tower that supplied heating and cooling to the 247,000sf high rise condominium. New design included replacement of the existing closed circuit cooling tower with an open tower and condensing heat exchanger, new exterior piping and insulation, replacement of the make-up water float assembly, a new work platform to allow access to the upper portion of the tower, and new controls and sensors. We provided commissioning services once the construction was complete.
Next, we performed mechanical engineering design for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system that services the Community Room and Fitness Room. The scope for the design involved replacement of the water source heat pump units. Gipe performed heating/cooling load calculations, ventilation calculations, selected and scheduled new HVAC units, performed a field survey of the existing duct systems. New work drawings were provided for replacement of ductwork as needed, detail of new HVAC units, schedule and control diagram.
