Snow Hill High School
Gipe Associates provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems design for the 120,000sf renovation of Snow Hill High School. Mechanical systems consisted of ground coupled water source heat pumps, using the earth as a heat sink for heat rejection and heat absorption. Variable speed distribution pumps were utilized for circulation of the heat transfer fluid. In addition to geothermal heating and cooling , other sustainable features included low flow plumbing fixtures, variable speed compressor/fan strategies, demand controlled ventilation, variable speed pumping, automatic lighting controls, variable speed kitchen exhaust and make-up airflow, a geothermal domestic hot water pre-heat system, high efficiency LED lighting fixtures, design related to reduction of light pollution, and high efficiency dry-type transformers. Commissioning of all MEP systems was included in our scope of work.
