Worcester County Courthouse HVAC & Commissioning
Mechanical and electrical engineering design and commissioning services for replacement of the HVAC and supporting electrical system. The historic courthouse was built in 1894 and presented some challenges associated with its historic nature. Gipe Associates designed a VRV system to provide heating/cooling for the various offices throughout the courthouse. Since many historic buildings lack wall and ceiling space for ductwork, a VRV system allowed the replacement of the HVAC without constructing new space to conceal ductwork. Commissioning of the VRV system included development of a commissioning plan, pre-start-up checklists for contractors, functional performance testing completed by Gipe staff, and creating and maintaining a commissioning issues log to record issues, assign responsibility, and track corrective actions.
